When considering the subject for the first series, I wanted to feature a tool common to nearly all of us. Cutting blades serve many purposes and have made countless tasks easier throughout human development. Here I have illustrated a few examples of blades as they may be found used in stories, literature and our daily lives.
My second series is inspired by animals depicted in traditional American tattoos! I recently read Tennessee Williams' The Glass Menagerie again. The story compelled me to make a set of animals that could not be lost, stolen or broken by the reckless actions of others. The obvious answer was the totem beasts worn in the skins of collectors of the finest art.
These are for you, Laura.
